BTS Dominates Global Music Charts with Solo Releases, Maintaining Their Presence Through Year-End

On December 6, Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs Global chart, which compiles data from November 29 to December 5, ranked Jin’s solo album “Happy” title track “Running Wild” at No. 20, marking its third consecutive week on the chart. The pre-release track “I’ll Be There” secured the No. 150 spot, continuing its six-week run, while “Happy – 😀 (Remixes)” claimed No. 24 on the Weekly Top Albums Global chart.

V’s digital single “Winter Ahead (with PARK HYO SHIN),” released on November 29, debuted at No. 29 on Weekly Top Songs Global. His solo album “Layover,” released in September last year, also saw its track “Love Me Again” remain on the chart for 69 weeks, currently ranking at No. 112.

Jimin’s second solo album “MUSE” title track “Who” reached No. 9, marking its 20th consecutive week on the chart, while Jungkook’s debut solo single “Seven (feat. Latto)” ranked No. 89, extending its chart run to 73 weeks. In the Weekly Top Albums Global category, “MUSE” and Jungkook’s solo album “GOLDEN” ranked at No. 15 and No. 49, respectively.

Despite being released in July 2023, Jungkook’s “Seven (feat. Latto)” remained at No. 39 on Billboard Japan’s Hot 100 Year-End chart and secured the No. 41 spot on Apple Music’s Top 100: Global year-end chart for 2024, revealed on December 4.

RM’s “Right Place, Wrong Person” earned recognition from the British music magazine NME, ranking No. 16 on their 50 Best Albums of 2024. This was the highest ranking for a K-pop artist, with NME praising RM’s second solo album as “one of the most innovative records of the year.”

BTS members also showcased immense popularity in Japan. Jin’s “Happy” achieved remarkable results in just 10 days, ranking No. 19 on Billboard Japan’s Hot Albums Year-End chart for 2024. It also ranked No. 20 and No. 33 on the Top Album Sales and Download Albums charts, respectively.

In addition to Jin’s “Happy,” Jimin’s “MUSE,” RM’s “Right Place, Wrong Person,” and J-Hope’s special album “HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1” all entered Billboard Japan’s Year-End Download Albums chart, confirming the popularity of all BTS members’ solo releases this year. Jungkook’s “GOLDEN,” released last year, also maintained its ranking, highlighting its sustained success.
